In 1855 George's uncle George died, leaving his entire 67 acre farm to young George.9 On Dec 3 1855, when George was only 11 years old, the probate court appointed Stephen S. Walker as guardian for George7 (presumably he needed a guardian since he was still a minor, yet he had inherited money/property that the court thought should be protected by a guardian). The guardianship, guaranteed by Stephen S. Walker, Samuel Pickens, Nathen Hinshaw and Henry D. Calvin, for the sum of One Thousand dollars etc..., stated:7
