She married Jay Peterson Sleesman, Jan 24 1945.1,2,4  Jay was born Sep 16 1904.2  

Jay received a Ph.D. in Zoology and Entomology and was employed for 46 years as a research entomologist at the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center.1

In 1975 Jay was living in/near Wooster, Wayne County, Ohio.5

Helen Sleesman

GROVEPORT - Helen Sleesman, 92, of Lakeview Crossing, Groveport, formerly of Wooster, died Saturday afternoon, May 8, 2004, in Lakeview Crossing.  

Memorial services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Wooster, with the Rev. James Watt officiating.  Burial will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Wooster Cemetery.  

The family will receive friends following the services in the church parlor.  

Arrangements are being handled by McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster.  

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Harbor Light Hospice, 253 N. State St., Westerville 43081; or to a charity of the donor’s choice.  

She was born Aug. 26, 1911, in Wayne Township, Wayne County to Luther and Haddie (Porter) Henshaw and married Dr. J.P. Sleesman in 1945.  He died in 1975.  

She was a graduate of the Wooster Schools and Western Reserve University School of Nursing in 1933.  

She was head nurse at University Hospital and Cook County Hospital in Chicago.  In Wooster, she worked at Beeson Clinic and was an original employee of the Wooster Community Hospital, retiring from the former Wooster Clinic in 1985.  She was also an American Red Cross nurse.  

She was a member and deacon of First Presbyterian Church, a member of Viola Thorne Club and a former member of Great Meadows Chapter of DAR in Uniontown, Pa.  

Surviving are children, Dr. John P. (JoAnne) Sleesman of Raleigh, N.C., Dr. Craig (Liz) Sleesman of Worthington and Marsha (Tim) Waibel of Canal Winchester; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, John Henshaw of Wooster; and sisters, Adelaide Lawton of Lodi and Mary Cottrell of Washington, Iowa.  

In addition to her husband, a brother, William Henshaw and a sister, Ruth Baker, died previously.
