In 1789, at the age of 26, Nicholas left the Shenandoah valley and patented 255 acres of land in North Union township (then Readstone township), Fayette County, Pennsylvania.    There he cleared a farm and lived there for the rest of his life.133
He married Margaret McConnel.133,145    Margaret was born in 1753, Virginia.133,78
