Stephen Hobson
son of
George & Hannah Hobson
and
Deborah Hinshaw
Daughter of
William & Rebekah Marshall
all of Chatham County
having declared their
intentions of Marriage with Each other before several monthly meetings
of the people Called Quakers at Cane Creek meeting house in
orange County North Carolina according to the good order
used among them & having
consent of parents & relations Concerned their
sd proposals of Marriage was allowed by sd meeting
&
Now these are to Certify
whom it may concern that for the full
accomplishing their said intentions this
Eighteenth Day of the fifth month 1786
they the sd
Stephen Hobson
and
Deborah Hinshaw
appeared in a publick meeting of the sd people and others at their
meeting house at Cane Creek abovesaid & the said
Stephen Hobson
taking the sd
Deborah Hinshaw
by the hand Did in solemn manner openly declare that he took
her the sd
Deborah Hinshaw
to be his wife promising through Divine assistance
to be unto her a true and faithful husband until Death
should seperate them or words to that Effect and then
& there in the same assembly the said
Deborah Hinshaw
did in like manner declare that she took him the sd
Stephen Hobson
to be her Husband promising through Divine assistance to be unto him a
true and faithful wife untill Death should seperate them or words
purpose
And Moreover they the sd Stephen Hobson & Deborah Hinshaw she according to the custom of marriage assuming the name of her husband as a further Confirmation thereof did then and there to these presents set their hands - - - and we being present at the solemnization of the sd marriage do as witnesses here unto also subscribe our names the day and year above written Stephen Hobson
