Born about 1720, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland.1
He married Ruth Hadley, 8-14-1742, New Garden MM, Chester County, Pennsylvania.1,3 Ruth, daughter of Joshua Hadley & Mary Rowland, was born about 1726, New Castle County, Pennsylvania.1,2,3 Among the signers to John & Ruth's marriage certificate were John and Christopher Griffith, Jacob and Rebecca Hinshaw, and William Marshill.3
At New Garden MM on 3 Mo. 28, 1743, John and Ruth were granted certificates to Concord Monthly Meeting, Virginia.3
At Concord MM (Virginia) on 2-7-1746, John and wife Ruth requested a certificate of removal to Hopewell MM, which was granted and signed on 4-2-1747.4
