A Brief of the Shouse Family as I knew Them for Preservation in the Family Bible
My Grandfather was named John Shouse and was a large man, and married Sarah Loucinda Rollfe, and came to Missouri from Indiana, about the time of the Civil War.    Grandmother was a very small woman, and I remember her well.    Grandfather died before I remember him.    To them these children were born:
Elizebeth, died in infancy.
Bernard Vanhorn, died in early manhood.
Racheal, single all her life. Died at age 83, at my father's house, and I was present -- about 1941.
Henry Harrison, lived to about 70 years and married Mattie Hinshaw, my father's sister.
Levi Rollfe, died as a young man.
Rebecca, married John Morris, first--then Sterling Cochran, the second time, of Oldham neighborhood--but left no issue.    She was a school teacher in early womanhood, and had but one arm, was a fine character.
Charity, married my Father, and raised a large family.
Elmer Ellsworth, married Gregory from Cole County, Missouri, but they had no children and he is still living--this date at Wilton, Missouri.
Sarah Jane -- died in infancy.
David Chilon, the youngest-- married a Morris, in Callaway County and taught school for a number of years in the rural schools in South Boone County and then moved to Jefferson City, where he died about 1938 of ... They raised a large family, of which I have no contact.
