He married Sarah Jane Elliot1,2 [Sarah Jane Elliott12], Apr 12 18731,2, Oklahoma1,2. Sarah, daughter of Reuben + Rebecca Elliot, was born Mar 10 1854, Indiana.3,4,13,14 (Her father Reuben was born 4-27-1823, Randolph Co., Indiana; died 11-5-1898, Waubensee Co., Kansas).13
Sarah had gone with her parents to the Wichita Agency in the Indiana Territories under the charge of the Friends Church. She was a seamstress and a teacher. In the Indiana Territories (now Oklahoma), she met William Jasper Hinshaw, who was also a school teacher.13 They taught school to the Indians at a Quaker mission school at Anadarko, Oklahoma.2 After they were married they returned to Kansas.13
