Guy graduated from high school in 1898 and then worked for awhile at R.J. Reynolds.    He then attended A&M College (now North Carolina State University) in Raleigh, where he finished with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1907.^g

He married Aileen Potter Milburn, Jun 19 1912, Forsyth County, North Carolina.^175,b,h    Aileen, daughter of Elmer A. Milburn & Margaret L. Brietz, was born May 2 1890, Trenton, Mercer County, New Jersey.^175,b,i

On Sep 12 1918 Guy Francis Hinshaw, age 37, registered for the World War I draft in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.    He declared he was born December 14 1880, and was then residing at 829 W. 6th, Winston-Salem where he was a civil engineer employed by "Hinshaw & Gigler" of Winston-Salem.    He declared his nearest relative was his wife, Aileen M. Hinshaw of the same address.    He was recorded as medium height, medium build, blue eyes.^f
