Born 2-11-17871,10 [2-14-17871,11], Deep River MM, Stokes County, North Carolina1,10.
At Deep River MM on 4-6-1807, Seth was granted a certificate to Westfield MM.1
At Westfield MM on 7-11-1807, Seth was received on a certificate from Deep River MM dated 4-6-1807.1
At Westfield MM on 3-11-1809, Seth was granted a certificate to Deep River MM.1
At Deep River MM on 4-3-1809, "certificate received for Seth from Westfield MM, dated 1809,3,11; endorsed to Center MM".1
He married Hannah Beeson, 6-21-1809, Center MM, North Carolina.1,5,6,10 Hannah, daughter of Benjamin Beeson & Margaret Hoggatt, was born 5-2-1788, Guilford County, North Carolina.1,5,6,12
Hannah died 2-19-1822, Marlborough MM, North Carolina.1,5,6 Hannah's death was reported to the Marlborough MM on 2-1-1823.1
He then married Abigail Rich, 4-16-1823, Marlborough MM, North Carolina.1,4,5,6,8,10 Abigail, daughter of Peter Rich & Mary Williams, was born 12-14-1791, Randolph County, North Carolina.1,5,8,13
At Marlborough MM on 7-11-1833, Seth, Abigail, & family were granted certificates to the Spiceland MM, Henry County, Indiana. On the same date, son Jabez was granted a certificate to Center MM to marry. Later, on 9-12-1833, Jabez was also granted a certificate to Spiceland MM.1
Seth had been a shopkeeper at New Salem, Randolph County, North Carolina. Before Seth removed to Indiana, he turned over to his brother Jesse (also a shopkeeper in New Salem) a number of debts to be collected. Among the debtors were Jesse Wall, Wiley Wall, William Hill and William Chamness.14
At Spiceland MM (Indiana) on 10-23-1833, Seth & family were received on a certificate from Marlborough MM & endorsed over to Duck Creek MM.5
At Duck Creek MM on 10-24-1833, Seth & wife Abigail & children Dianna, Asenath, Hannah, Mary, & Ruth were received on a certificate from Marlborough MM, N.C., endorsed by Spiceland MM.5
Spiceland MM on 2-20-1837 recorded:5
"Seth Hinshaw & wife Abigail & children, members of Duck Creek Mtg., now laid down, have been attached to Spiceland MM".
Spiceland MM on 12-20-1837 recorded:5
"Duck Creek PM complained that Seth has encouraged disunity". On 1-24-1838, the meeting recorded "Seth produced an offering which was read and accepted".

At Duck Creek MM on 4-23-1859, Seth Hinshaw, Duck Creek PM, was complained of:5
"he has neglected attendence of our meetings and has consented to a marriage of one of our members being accomplished in his house. Disowned 6-23-1859".
