Born Feb 6 1874^4,8 [Feb 6 1873^9,10, Feb - 1876^11,12, about 1873^3,5], Elys, Kentucky^4,8.  

He married Susie J. West¹ [Sarah E. J. West¹³], Oct 23 1893¹.  Susie, daughter of James West & Elizabeth Brown, was born Aug - 1877, Tennessee.^2,13  

William and Susie were divorced.^1,13  

William was shown in the 1900 census (Jun 14 1900), living in a boarding house in White Oak Township, Franklin County, Arkansas:¹²

He then married Maude Moore, Feb 23 1901.^1,14,15  Maude was born 1881^3,14 [about 1883⁴, about 1887⁵], Alabama^3,14.  

William and family were shown in the 1910 census (Apr 21-22 1910), Ozark Road, Stonewall Township, Johnson County, Arkansas:³

On Sep 12 1918 William Henry Hanshew, age 45, registered for the World War I draft in Johnson County, Arkansas.  He declared he was born Feby 6 1873, and he was then residing in Hartman, Arkansas where he was a farmer employed by a Jim R[..unclear..] of Hartman.  He declared his nearest relative was Maud Hanshew of Hartman.  He was recorded as tall, slender, gray eyes, black hair.⁹
