BURLINGTON
Mr. J. Frank Hinshaw, 81, of 1041 Briarcliff Rd., Burlington, died 7 p.m. Thursday at his home after three years declining and three months critical illness. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Rich and Thompson Chapel, Burlington, with burial in Alamance Memorial Park. Dr. E. Al Roberts, pastor of Hocutt Memorial Baptist Church, and the Rev. Chip Cagle, hospice chaplain, will officiate. A native of Alamance Co., he was the son of the late William Thomas Hinshaw and Texie Lail Hinshaw. He was the retired owner of Dixie Hosiery Company, was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the African Theatre of Operations, his division being one of the first to take the beachhead in Anzio. He attended Hocutt Memorial Baptist Church, was a member of the Burlington Elks Lodge, where he was honored as 'Elk of the Year' for 1987-1988, and was a charter member of the Alamance Country Club. He was an avid golfer and was locally known for his cooking of BBQ. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Ramsey 'Dottie' Hinshaw of the home; daughters, Mrs. Sharon H. Copland of Raleigh, and Mrs. Douglas W. (Amy) McKay of Graham; son and daughter-in-law, John 'Skip' Hinshaw and Mary Alice Hinshaw of Burlington; sisters, Mrs. W.R. (Tressie) Massey, Mrs. Buel (Ruby) Carden, Mrs. W.E. (Argie) Bivens, all of Burlington; brother, Mr. W.T. 'Dub' Hinshaw of Burlington; four grandchildren, Mrs. Paige Copland Simpson and her husband, Michael Simpson of St. Petersburg, Fla., Taylor Hinshaw, Ms. Meredith Hinshaw, both of Burlington, and Ms. Samantha McKay of Graham. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Brodie A. Hinshaw and James N. Hinshaw. The family will be at the Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, and other times will be at the residence. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, P.O. Box 2122, Burlington, N.C. 27216.
Dottie currently (2007) still resides in Burlington, North Carolina.11
