At Union MM, Ohio on 7-16-1845, Richard was received on a certificate from Newberry MM, Tennessee, dated 5-3-18362 (what could have caused the long delay between 1836 and 1845??!).
Serena died Nov 6 1846, buried Clark Cemetery, White County, Indiana.205
At Union MM on 9-15-1848, Richard was disowned2 (reason unknown).
Richard crossed the plains with the gold rush of 1849, and after spending a few years in California returned to the East, settling in Indiana prior to the outbreak of the Civil War.    Assuming contracts for digging ditches, he worked all through the northern part of White County, Indiana.a

After Richard died his young children seem to have been sent to various different homes.    Son John was shown in the 1870 census living in the household of Richard's brother William;k son Richard was shown in the 1870 census living in the household of Mary Ann's daughter, Nancy (Eaves) Furguson;l Mary Ann's son Samuel Eaves was shown in the 1870 census living (working) in the household of a William & Mary Hays.m    [It *appears* that Mary Ann might have remarried to William Hays, as her age in the 1870 census, 46, matches other census records for her, and she was shown with Samuel Eves].
