Born Mar 1 1949, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.1,2,3,4
Joy grew up on the south side of Chicago (10934 S. Vernon Ave.), in an apartment neighborhood. She initially attended Pullman grade school, in the old Pullman neighborhood of Chicago's south side (where George Pullman once built his famous railroad cars), then in about third grade transferring to nearby Holy Rosary school. She initially attended Fenger High School. In 1964 the family moved to South Holland, a then far south suburb of Chicago. As a result, she again transferred to Thornridge High School, where she graduated with the Class of 1967.1
She married Robert Danovsky, Sep 29 1973.1,2 Robert was born Apr 11 1945.2
Joy Marie Hinshaw died Sep 14 2001, St. Margaret's Mercy Hospital, Dyer, Lake County, Indiana; age 52.1,3,4 No funeral service or burial was performed as, like her father, she had donated her body for medical research.1
Joy died from pneumonia as a complication of multiple sclerosis. Although MS deprived her of physical mobility through much of her adult life, she always bore her suffering quietly and with little complaint. She dilligently fought to retain her independence of movement, and managed to shop, visit and get around town on her scooter (motorized chair). With the family, she was always cheerful and amicable and easygoing and giving and completely selfless.1
Joy, you will always be with us in our hearts.
