Born Sep 7 1788, Frederick County, Virginia.1,7,11,12,13,14,15,16  

He married Sarah Knicely, about 1811.1  Sarah, daughter of George Knicely & Mary Teeter, was born Jul 5 1792.2,12  

William moved to Sullivan County, Tennessee where he was a Lutheran minister.1  On Jan 2 1851 the Evangelical Lutheran Holston Synod was organized at Zion's Church in Sullivan County, Tennessee.  It embraced ten ministers, including William Hancher and his son J.K. Hancher.17

On Oct 25 1831, "William Hancher of Sullivan County State of Tennessee" sold his 1/10th interest in the land he had inherited from his father, joining the lands of "John Chenowith, Thos. Cooper's heirs & Burwells heirs".  The deed states the land is "one divided tenth part of the tract of land his father William Hancher dec'd died posessed of containing in all one hundred and ten acres" etc. etc.9  

Sarah died Mar 4 1833, Sullivan County, Tennessee.1,2  

He then married Elizabeth Doyle Wilson, Sep 26 1833, Tennessee.1,18,19  Elizabeth, daughter of William Wilson & Mary Doyle, was born 1801, Tennessee.7,13,14,15,18

Hancher, Priccilla Y., age 32, born in Tennessee; asst. [unclear] housekeeper.
Living next door in 1870 was the family of son James.22  

William Hancher died Sep 5 1870, buried Lane Cemetery, Sullivan County, Tennessee.1,3  

Elizabeth died Oct 11 1875, Sullivan County, Tennessee; age 74y 2m.18
