Lewis Hinshaw SOCIAL CIRCLE, GA -- Mr. Lewis Hinshaw, formerly of Greensboro, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2007, after a brief illness. He was 96.
A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, October 20, at Green Hill Cemetery.
Lewis was born May 27, 1911, in Randolph County, N.C., to the late William Claude and Ila Mae Hinshaw. He grew up in Siler City moving to Greensboro in the 1920's. Lewis was in the automotive repair business for 50 years. He was an active member of Rolling Roads Nazarene Church, where he distinguished himself in various volunteer positions. He was a Scout Master in the General Greene Boy Scout Council. Prior to moving to Georgia in 1991, he was an active member of Moriah United Methodist Church and its community.
Mr. Hinshaw was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Dean Hinshaw; his brothers, Clyde and Roland and his sister, Mary Louise.
He is survived by his sons, William L. Hinshaw, II and Lisa of Dacula Ga., Edward D. Hinshaw and Vicki of Cameron S.C., David Hinshaw and Joan of Atlanta, Ga. He has seven grandchildren, Dean Hinshaw of Erlanger, Ky., William L. Hinshaw, III of Snellville, Ga., Pamela Hinshaw of Louisville, Ky., Jonathan Hinshaw of Loganville, Ga., Jennifer Farley of Chicago, Ill., Drew Hinshaw of New York, N.Y., and Kate Hinshaw of Atlanta, Ga. He has two great grandchildren, Tanner Hinshaw of Erlanger, Ky., and Olivia Hinshaw of Snellville Ga.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. Saturday at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Street Chapel, prior to the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to Moriah United Methodist Church, 3611 Liberty Road, Greensboro, NC 27406.
