Virgil was a "survivor" when dealing with problems he encountered in life. He was raised as an orphan, and suffered permanent injuries from a tragic mine accident while in his twenties; but he didn't allow them to keep him from progressing and living a full life.2
In 1955 Virgil established the Hanshaw Insurance Business in Lewisburg, West Virginia.2
Virgil Watson Hanshaw died Feb 22 1987, Greenbrier County, West Virginia; buried Hively Cemetery, Clay County, West Virginia.1,4 Virgil died from familial amyloidosis, as did his father and brother.1
