She was born Jan. 11, 1924, in Barnesville, Ohio, daughter of Roy and Emma Johnson. She and Vernon Hinshaw married in 1946 in Barnesville and they always worked together.
The Hinshaws ran a ranch near Goldendale, Wash., for 20 years. In 1970, they purchased a health food store in Gladstone and have operated such stores since. They moved to McMinnville in 1973 after purchasing Parkway Health Foods on Third Street. The store was relocated to the Town Center Shopping Plaza several years ago.
Mrs. Hinshaw was very active in scouting, 4-H and church, and was a leader and teacher. She also was a reader, writer, painter and a listening ear for many.

Her family said Edith's faith, honesty, work ethic, love of people and fun, eagerness to help and listen will be engraved in the legacy she has left us to carry on.
