Born about 1744.⁴²    William's birth date has been variously reported to be c1744, c1742, or c1751.    A newspaper article once even claimed William was a twin of brother Thomas (whose exact birth date is also unknown).⁵

At Cane Creek MM on 5-6-1797, William was granted a certificate to Deep Creek MM.²

At Deep Creek MM on 6-3-1797, William was received on a certificate from Cane Creek MM dated 5-6-1797.²

At Deep Creek MM on 4-3-1802, William was granted a certificate to Deep River MM, to marry.²

He married Ann (Haisley) (Philips) Hinshaw, 4-7-1802, Deep River MM, North Carolina.    (Ann Haisley)    (Ann Philips)    (Ann Phillips)    (Ann Hinshaw)

At Deep River MM on 4-7-1802, "William, Surry Co., son of Jacob & Rebeckah, married Ann Hinshaw, widow of John, daughter of George & Sarah Haisley".^2,42    See long explanation under John Hinshaw.

At Deep River MM on 7-5-1802, Ann & two daughters, and Joseph Philips, son of Ann Hinshaw, were granted certificates to Deep Creek MM.²

At Deep Creek MM on 8-7-1802, "Ann Hinshaw & daughters Ann & Mary Philips, & son, Joseph Philips" were received on a certificate from Deep River MM dated 7-5-1802.²

Ann died Nov 22 1823, North Carolina.^a

William Hinshaw died 1832, Surry County, North Carolina.⁴²
