He married Nora Pickett^{8,12,13,14,15,16,17} [Nona Pickett^18,19, Nora Puckett¹⁴, Nora Pichett¹²], Mar 3 1883^{8,12,13,14,15,16,17}, Randolph County, Indiana^{8,12,13,14,15,16,17}.  Nora, daughter of John W. Pickett & Fannie Coffin^{2,18,20,21,22}, was born Feb 11 1862^{2,18,20,21,22} [Dec 19 1865^15,16,17], Randolph County, Indiana^{2,18,20,21,22}.  

Nora died Jan 12 1894, age 28y 24d.¹⁷  Nora reportedly died from "dropsy" (edema); she was ill for a long time and Cyrus and Nora and family moved into her parents household as Cyrus was unable to care for Nora and the boys alone.²³  

Nora's obituary was published as follows (as excerpted):¹⁷

HINSHAW Nora V., b. Dec. 19, 1865 d/o James W. & Fanny Plckett.  She m. Cyrus Hinshaw Mar. 3, 1883, they had 3 children.  She d. Jan. 12, 1894 ae 28y 24d.  Fun & bur at Jericho.

In September 1897 (one month after the death of his father), at Jericho MM, Cyrus was granted a certificate to Traverse City MM, Michigan.^1,24  In Traverse City he worked as a guard and counselor at an insane asylum (name of institution unknown).¹  

Cyrus was shown in the 1900 census (Jun 6 1900), living in a boarding house at 412 West Eighth Street, Traverse City, Michigan:¹¹

In the early 1900s Cyrus had an apple orchard at Tonasket, Washington, and later had one at Wenatchee, Washington.¹  

Cyrus was shown in the 1910 census (May 16 1910), living alone in Tonasket Township, Okanogan County, Washington:²⁶

He then married Nora May Snider Freeman¹ [Nora May Snider¹], May 14 1913¹, Okanogan, Okanogan County, Washington¹.  Nora, daughter of Joseph Snider & Martha Ann Kendall, was born May 27 1874, Mason City, Mason County, Illinois.^1,5,27  

Nora was a young widowed schoolteacher.  She had previously married in 1898 to Jothan Melvin Freeman; he had died Jan 21 1900.¹  Nora taught school in Omaha, Nebraska, Maine, Massachusetts, and Washington state.¹  

Cyrus and family were shown in the 1920 census (Jan 9-12 1920), Chelan County, Washington (census page very faded):⁵

Cyrus and Nora had a farm in Malheur County, Oregon, at Little Valley, south of Vale in Section 19, Township 19.¹  

Cyrus was a fruit tree salesman for the Washington Nursery Company of Yakima, Washington (he also at one time sold fruit trees for Stark Brothers Nursery).  Cyrus brought many of the early fruit trees to the state of Washington (he brought thousands of fruit trees into Okanogan country, helping to develop Washington as a leading fruit producing area).¹  

Cyrus J. Hinshaw died Aug 30 1933, Rosary Hospital, Ontario, Malheur County, Oregon; buried Sep 1 1933, Ontario, Oregon.^{8,10,19,28,29}  Medical: Cyrus died from "Decompensated heart disease".^10,30  

Cyrus' obituary was published in "The Malheur Enterprise" (Vale, Oregon) on Thursday, August 31, 1933 (page 1), as follows:³¹

C. J. Hinshaw of Little Valley Dies C. J. Hinshaw, rancher of Little Valley died at the Ontario Hospital early Wednesday morning.  Surviving are his wife and a son of Anacortes, Wash.   Seriously ill, Mr. Hinshaw was taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon where he died a few hours later.  The funeral will be held in Ontario today.

Another obituary was published in "The Journal-Herald" (Winchester, Indiana) on September 26, 1933:¹⁹

CYRUS J. HINSHAW.   Cyrus J. Hinshaw, aged 71, died August 30, 1933.  His home was near Harper, Oregon.  He died at the Holy Rosary hospital, Ontario, Oregon, and was buried at Ontario, September 1, 1933.   He was the son of Job and Serena Cox Hinshaw.  In early life he married Nona Pickett.  To them were born three sons, Herman, Clifford and Harold.  After the death of his wife, Herman and Clifford, he went to Michigan and later to the state of Washington.   Twenty years ago he married Mrs. Nora Snider Freeman.  To them was born one daughter, Martha Grace.   Two years ago the family moved to land near Harper.  His death was due to heart trouble and complications.  He is survived by his widow; one son, Harold H. Hinshaw, of Anacortes, Washington; one daughter, Martha Grace, at home; two grandchildren, Nona and Jack Hinshaw; one brother, Charles F. Hinshaw, Winchester, and a number of other relatives.
