July 16, 1964 - April 23, 2012Michele Renee Blackburn, 47, Kokomo, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2012, at St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo. She was born July 16, 1964, to Reese Eugene and Darlene (Dale) Hinshaw, and they survive.
Michele graduated from Taylor High School, continuing her education at Ivy Tech and Brown Mackie colleges. Working primarily in the health-care field, Michele was a hard worker, often working several jobs at the same time. Her favorite job was being a rehab technician.
Away from work, Michele loved to work with and revive plants in poor condition, and enjoyed special projects, such as making Halloween costumes with her children and grandchildren. Michele was a very special person who loved animals, power tools and clearance racks. She was a strong supporter of the American Cancer Society, and an advocate for brain cancer research.
Michele is survived by her children, Ashley (Jessie) Reason and Brent Blackburn; two grandchildren, Haylee Reason and Jesse Reason; her parents, Reese and Darlene Hinshaw; a brother, David Hinshaw; two sisters, Vicky (Wayne) Fawley and Cheryl Hinshaw; and several nieces and nephews.
Michele was preceded in death by her beloved dog, Puppy.
Services are 3 p.m. Friday at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., the Reverend Janet Kelley officiating. Visitation is noon to 3 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
Contributions can be made in Michele’s memory to the American Cancer Society, or to the family to offset expenses during this difficult time.
