Milton Wheeler Hinshaw1 [Milton Willard Hinshaw3,6].

Born Sep 22 1855, near Snow Camp, Chatham County, North Carolina.1,2,3,4,6,7,8

At Cane Creek MM on 3-6-1869 Dinah Unthank and Amy Hinshaw were minuted into membership at their own request, and minor brothers Milton W. and John H. Hinshaw were minuted into membership at the request of their parents.9,10

Milton wrote a one-paragraph autobiography in which he states, in part:1

"left home on the 1 day of the 3 month 1875 and came to the State of Ind.  without money or friends and among strangers and no one to depend on only my self".  ...  "I worked by the day and month for nearly 3 years or until December the 21st 1879 and at that time I bought 40 acres of land near the center of Adams Township, State of Indiana, Hamilton Co., and commenced to work on the same to improve it".

Milton was shown in the 1880 census (Jun 16 1880), living in the household of sister Tamar in Adams Township, Hamilton County, Indiana:8

Hinshaw, Milton, boarder, age 24, born in North Carolina; parents born in North Carolina; single; farm laborer,

He married Elnora "Nora" Burton1,11,12 [Mary Elnora Burton13, Nora Burton11], Nov 8 18881,11,12, Hamilton County, Indiana1,11,12.  Elnora, daughter of John Burton & Susanna Rushton, was born Apr 3 1867, near Boxley, Hamilton County, Indiana.1,2,4,7

Elnora's family lived on a farm near Milton's farm, a mile west of Boxley, Indiana.  At first Milton was shy and reluctant to court Elnora, but a batchelor friend began dating Elnora's sister and finally convinced Milton to go with him and start seeing Nora.1

Milton and family were shown in the 1900 census (Jun 21 1900), Adams Township, Hamilton County, Indiana:2

Elnora died Jun 16 1919, near Boxley, Adams Township, Hamilton County, Indiana; buried Boxley Cemetery, Boxley, Indiana.1,7,13  Medical: Nora died from liver cancer.1  (Note: The Hamilton County death records show her age as 25!13  Either this is an error in the death records, or the 1919 record refers to a different Mary Elnora Hinshaw, which seems unlikely).
