Ansel M. was shown age 10 in the 1860 Census, Washington Township, Randolph County, Indiana.^1,14  

He married Mary L. Musser^1,2,9,15 [Earthel Mercer⁷], Apr 26 1873^1,2,9,15, Wayne County, Indiana^1,2,9,15.  Mary was born Aug 17 1855^2,4,6 [Aug - 1856⁵], Indiana^2,4,6.  

At New Garden MM on 8-21-1875, "A. M." [Ansel Monroe] was granted a certificate to Cherry Grove MM.⁶  

At Cherry Grove MM on 10-9-1875, Ancil Monroe was received on a certificate from New Garden MM.  On 2-12-1876, Mary was received in membership.⁶  

Ancil and family were shown in the 1880 census (Jun 21 1880), Washington Township, Randolph County, Indiana:⁴

At Cherry Grove MM on 6-8-1889, Ancil & wife Mary and children Bertha Eva, Henry, & Harvey were granted a certificate to Portland MM, Indiana.⁶  

At Carthage MM on 3-11-1897, Ancil & wife Mary S. & minor children Eva, Luella, Eli Henry, & Harry Erthel were received on a certificate from Olive Branch MM, Indiana.³  

Ancil and Mary apparently divorced or separated before June 1900.  Mary and son Harry were shown in the 1900 census (Jun 9 1900), living in the household of daughter Estella on Plum [street], Plymouth, Marshall County, Indiana:⁵

Ancil and son Eli were shown in the 1900 census (Jun 8-9 1900), Main Street, Carthage, Rush County, Indiana:⁸

He then married Martha Stevenson^10,11,16 [Martha J. Stephensen¹⁰, Mattie Stevenson¹³], Mar 15 1903^10,11,16, Madison County, Indiana^10,11,16.  Martha was born about 1868, Kentucky.¹³  Martha had been previously married and had a son, Harry Stevenson.¹³
