Born Feb 20 1789, Randolph County, North Carolina.1,2,3,4,5,6,7  Rebecca and Mary were twins.  

She married Joshua Hadley, III, 1809.1,3,4,5,6,8,9  Joshua, son of Joshua Hadley & Ruth Lindley, was born Dec 13 1783, Chatham County, North Carolina.3,5,6,7,10  Joshua had been previously married Dec 7 1803 to Lydia Hiatt (Apr 16 1786-Apr 14 1806).7,9,10,11  

Note Joshua was the brother of Rebecca's twin sister Mary's husband Joseph!  Note also that Joshua's father had earlier married (as his second wife) Rebecca's second cousin, Jane Hinshaw!3  

Although Joshua was sometimes known as "Joshua Hadley, Jr.", he was really "Joshua Hadley, III" - he and his father were known at Cane Creek as Joshua Jr. and Sr. respectively.12  

At Cane Creek MM on 3-6-1813, Rebekah was disowned for "marriage out of unity".13  


Mary Hadley, born Jul 23 1810, died Dec 16 1850, married Henry Rogers.
Zeno Hadley, born Feb 15 1812, died Feb 17 1881, married Rebecca Stanley.
Nathan Hadley, born Jan 12 1814, married (1) Olive Newlin, (2) Mary Ann Harvey, (3) Emily Brown.
Job Hadley, born Feb 9 1816, married (1) Hannah Draper, (2) Tacy Burgess.
Milton Hadley, born Oct 13 1817, died Dec 29 1817.
Susannah Hadley, born Dec 1 1818, died Apr 19 1897, married Pryor Calvin Woodward.
Asenath Hadley, born Jan 21 1822, died Feb 2 1860, married William Stanley.
Ruth Hadley, born Oct 10 1824, married Addison Coffin.
Mordecai Hadley, born Jun 30 1827, married 1) Sarah Jane Cloud, 2) Susan Lindley. 7
Addison Hadley, born Sep 8 1830, married Martha Jane Hill.
Esther Hadley, born Apr 24 1833, died Jul 23 1851.

In the fall of 1838, Rebecca and Joshua moved to Hendricks County, Indiana, settling in Clay Township.  At that time their two eldest children were married.7  

Joshua died Aug 23 1847, buried Mill Creek Cemetery, Danville, Hendricks County, Indiana.3,5,6,7,10  

Rebecca and her son, Addison Hadley, donated 110 acres of land and a large sum of money with which the "Hadley Industrial School for Girls" was founded at Danville, Indiana.1  

Rebecca was a woman of great energy and fortitude, and strong religious convictions, and a devoted Bible student.  She was a frequent attendant at church, riding horseback when between eighty and ninety years of age.7  

Rebecca Hinshaw died Apr 19 1882.7
