Amos was named after his grandfather, Stephen Hinshaw, and his uncle, Amos S. Hinshaw.10  

Amos bought parcels of land containing old-growth longleaf pine which he harvested for his saw mill and planer outfit.2  In 1890 he built his farmhouse with this wood.2  In 1888 Amos provided the lumber for the third meeting house built by the Friends at Holly Spring (his father Thomas headed the building committee).11  

He married Cordelia Edna "Delia" Cox, Oct 11 1895, Holly Spring MM, Randolph County, North Carolina.1,2  Cordelia, daughter of Yancy (Yancey) H. Cox & Nancy Ann Lowdermilk, was born Apr 10 1876, North Carolina.1,2,3,4,5,8

Amos suffered a stroke in 1944 and was partially paralized for the remainder of his life.2  

Amos Stephen Hinshaw died Jan 9 1952, Asheboro, Randolph County, North Carolina; buried Holly Spring Friends Cemetery, Ramseur, Randolph County, North Carolina.2,8  

Cordelia died Aug 27 1964, buried Holly Spring Friends Cemetery, Ramseur, Randolph County, North Carolina.8,17
