Born 17974,14 [about 18005], Surry County, North Carolina4,14. [Thomas was shown age 53 in the 1850 census,4 yet was shown age 60 in the 1860 census].5
He married Elizabeth -, about 1820.3 Elizabeth was born 1809, Tennessee.3,15
Thomas apparently married and moved to Alabama sometime between 1820 and 1830.1 He and other members of the family moved to Richmond, Indiana, staying there only briefly (son James was born there in 1833), then relocating to Alabama.16
On Jun 1 1831 Thomas Henshaw acquired 79.92 acres of land in Jackson County, Alabama, recorded at the Huntsville land office. The land patent described him as "Thomas Henshaw of Jackson County, Alabama".17

Thomas Hinshaw died Feb 18 1869, Jackson County, Alabama.1,3,19 Estate settlement Jun 7 1869, administered by son G.W. Hinshaw.19
Thomas and his brother William were reportedly responsible for starting the first Methodist Church in Jackson County, Alabama.14
