He married Elvira E. Griffin1,2,5,13 [Elvina Griffen8], Sep 24 18631,2,5,13, Pilot Grove, Lee County, Iowa1,2,5,13.  Elvira, daughter of Jacob Griffin & Rebecca Harvey, was born Mar 22 1846, Indiana.2,3,5,6,10,11,13,14,15  Elvira was the granddaughter of William Harvey and Rachel Townsend.5  

At Richland MM (Iowa) on 7-7-1864, Elvira E., wife of Ezra W. Hinshaw, was received on a certificate from New Garden MM (Iowa) dated 6-4-1864.1  

Chester Friends Church was set up in 1869 in Providence Township, Hardin County, Iowa.  Among the people recorded as having served as pastors were E.W. Hinshaw and Elvira Hinshaw.16

At Richland MM on 4-7-1883, Ezra & Elvira & children Viola, Horace M., Ada, Stella, Clairen, Guy C., & Ralph were granted a certificate to Honey Creek MM, Iowa.1  

At Honey Creek MM on 5-12-1883, Ezra E., wife Elvira and children Viola, Horace M., Ada, Stella, Clairen, Guy C., & Ralph were received on a certificate from Richland MM, Iowa.1  

Fairview Friends Meeting was set up in March of 1883 in Hardin County, Iowa.  Among the people recorded as having served as ministers were Ezra Hindshaw and Mrs. Alvira Hindshaw.16  

By directive from Honey Creek Quarterly Meeting, Chester MM was organized in 1892.  Among the people recorded as original members was E.W. Hinshaw with family.16

At Oskaloosa MM on 11-2-1916, Ezra & Elvira were granted a certificate to Providence MM, Iowa.1  

Ezra and Elvira were shown in the 1920 census (Jan 3 1920), New Providence, Hardin County, Iowa:11

Hinshaw, Elvira, wife, age 74, born in Indiana; parents born in Indiana.
Living three houses away in 1920 was the widow Lizzie Kersey,19 who later married Ezra's nephew, Alpheus.20  

Elvira died Aug 17 1928, Hardin County, Iowa; buried New Providence Cemetery, Providence Township, Hardin County, Iowa.5,10,13,15  

Ezra William Hinshaw died Sep 16 1929, buried New Providence Cemetery, Providence Township, Hardin County, Iowa.5,10,12,21,22  

Ezra's obituary was published in "The American Friend" on October 10, 1929 (page 760).22
