Helen M. Henshaw Harshman, age 92, of Brownsville, Pa., and formerly of Fredericktown, Pa., died Saturday, April 8, 2006, in the Laurel Ridge Nursing Home, Uniontown, Pa. She was born December 9, 1913, in Waltersburg, Pa., the daughter of Porter G. Henshaw and Blanche Krepps Henshaw.
Mrs. Harshman graduated in the Class of 1931 from the now former Redstone Township High School and attended California State Teachers College (now California University of Pennsylvania) and also Waynesburg College.
She had been a former teacher for the Beth-Center School District.
She was a longtime member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Deemston Borough, the P.S.E.A.R., The Order of The Eastern Star Chapter No. 205 in Monessen and the Hanson-Cole American Legion Post 705 Ladies Auxiliary in Centerville.
Helen was the last of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph I. Harshman on December 4, 1986, and three brothers, James W. Henshaw, Clark D. Henshaw and Howard K. Henshaw.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law: Winifred R. Henshaw of Merrittstown, Pa., and Virginia Johnson of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
At the request of the family, there will be no public visitation.
A private Graveside Service and interment will be in the Beallsville Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Gregg officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, 250 Hastings Road, Fredericktown, PA 15333.
All arrangements are under the direction of the JOHN B. GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 2830 Main Street (Route 40), Beallsville, PA.
