Born Dec 9 19182,3,4,5,6 [about 19207], Merrittstown, Fayette County, Pennsylvania2,3,4,5,6.  

On Mar 24 1942 Howard K. Henshaw, born 1918 in Pennsylvania, enlisted at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland as a private in the U.S. Army.  He declared he had three years of high school, and was single, without dependents.  He was recorded as 70" tall, 158 lbs.8  

He married Elma Swan.2,9  Elma was born Aug 29 1922.6  

The following article was published in "The Monessen Daily Independent" (Monessen, Pennsylvania) on Thursday evening, July 30, 1953:10

Four workmen are dead and five others hospitalized following a disastrous accident at the Pittsburgh Steel Co. plant here yesterday afternoon.  

Six other men suffered injuries when a trestle on which four hopper cars were standing collapsed in the open hearth department during the lunch hour.  

Another worker was released from the hospital today.

Brownsville

Howard K. Henshaw, age 86, of Brownsville, Pa., died Monday, April 25, 2005, in Mount Macrina Manor, Uniontown, Pa.  

He was born December 9, 1918, in Merrittstown, Pa., the son of Porter G. Henshaw and Blanche Krepps Henshaw.  

Mr. Henshaw was a graduate of Redstone High School class of 1937, was a member of Fort Burd United Presbyterian Church, Brownsville, Pa., where he served as a Deacon and Elder, and was a member of the American Legion Post 7705, Centerville, Pa. and the VFW Post 47, Uniontown, Pa.  

He served with the 65th Armored Field Artillery Battalion during World War II in the campaigns of South Africa, Sicily, and D. Day in Europe.  He was a retired Steelworker for Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen Plant, retiring in 1981.  

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Elma Swan Henshaw in 1991, and two brothers, James and Clark D. Henshaw.  

Surviving are a son, Howard F. Henshaw and his wife Carolyn, Brownsville, Pa., and a daughter, Lois A. Falsetto and husband Dennis Falsetto, all of Brownsville, Pa.; five grandchildren: Howard F. Henshaw Jr., Vonnie Henshaw, Marc Henshaw, Kristi L. Headley and Kevin A. Falsetto and his wife Mishelle; five great grandchildren: Cory Liptak, Shelby Henshaw, Alexandra Wasko, Cole Falsetto and Steele Falsetto; a sister, Helen M. Harshman, Uniontown, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.  

Friends will be received at the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME (formerly Confer Funeral Home), 515 Front Street, Brownsville, Pa., on Saturday, April 30, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.  

Interment will be private.  

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Howard's name to the Fort Burd United Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 200 Thornton Road, Brownsville, PA 15417.
