Born May 17 1887, Milan, Jackson County, Alabama.5  (Texas).1,4,6  (Tennessee).7  (May - 1888).8  

He married Josephine Isabella Martin.1,9  Josephine, daughter of James Alexander Martin & Martha Pearl Leach, was born Feb 26 1889, near Kilgore, Gregg County, Texas.1,4,10  (Feb - 1888).11,12,13  (c1893).2,14  

On Jun 5 1917 George R. Henshaw, age 30, registered for the World War I draft in McIntosh County, Oklahoma.  He declared he was born May 17th 1887 in Milan, Alabama, and was then residing in Eufaula, Oklahoma.  where he was married with two children under three years old.  He claimed an exemption due to "wife and 2 children".  He was recorded as medium height, slender, brown eyes, black hair.5  

George Richard Henshaw died Oct 16 1918, buried row 35 section A, Greenwood Cemetery, Eufaula, McIntosh County, Oklahoma.4,6  George was a victim of the 1918 influenza epidemic.3  George's gravestone is inscribed with "Thy trails ended, thy rest is won".4

Josephine was shown in the 1940 census (Apr 5 1940), 500 Elm, Eufaula, McIntosh County, Oklahoma:14

Hinshaw, Josephine, head-of-household, Indian, age 47, born in Texas; completed 2 years of college; on Apr 1 1935 was living in the same house; owned home ($2000 value); $145 wages in 1939, plus other income.

About 1948 Josephine remarried to Cleo A. Rusk.3,4,13  

Josephine died Nov 1 1965, buried row 35 section A, Greenwood Cemetery, Eufaula, McIntosh County, Oklahoma.4,10,13  Josephine's gravestone is inscribed with "my beloved wife".4,13  

George's family home in Eufaula is still in the family, as well as a 1947 Ford Business Coupe which was a "honeymoon car" purchased by Cleo A. Rusk when he married Josephine about 1948.  As far as is known, the car left the state only once, on the honeymoon trip.3
