Born Aug 22 1922, near Sheridan, Hamilton County, Indiana.1,3,4,5,6  

Don spent his childhood on his father's farms in Indiana, graduating from Arcadia High School in 1940.1  He joined the U.S. Navy in 1942 as an aviation cadet, became a Marine fighter pilot in World War II and the Korean War, and served in the Pentagon for 2+ years during the Vietnam War.  He retired in 1966 as a Lt. Colonel.1  

He married Joan Mary "Judy" Beechler, Dec - 1946.1  Joan, daughter of Tom + Clara Beechler, was born May 8 1924, Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana.7,8  

Don and Judy were separated in 1974 and divorced in 1984.1  Judy remarried to Waple Dee Nix.7,8  Joan died Dec 23 2010, at her home, Lone Star, Texas.7,8  Judy's obituary was published in the "Longview News-Journal" (Longview, Texas) on December 22, 2010:7

DAINGERFIELD Memorial services for Joan "Judy" Nix of Lone Star will be 2 p.m. Thursday, December 23, 2010, at Lilley's Chapel Church of Christ with Norman Miller and Doug Freeman officiating.  Arrangements are by Nail-Haggard Funeral Home.  

Mrs. Nix was born May 8, 1924, in Indianapolis, Indiana, and died Saturday, December 18, 2010, at her home in Lone Star.  She was a member of Daingerfield Church of Christ Bible Study Group and Friends of the Daingerfield Public Library.  Survivors include her husband, Waple D. Nix; daughter, Donna Michelle Hinshaw; and son, Jerrold Thomas Hinshaw.

While a Marine, Don earned a B.S. degree from the University of Southern California, and later, while with the engineering department at General Dynamics, earned a masters degree from USC.  Don retired from General Dynamics in 1984.  Later in life, Don owned and managed many rental properies.1  

Don Marcus Hinshaw died Aug 5 2010, at his home; interned Pacific View Mortuary, 3500 Pacific View Dr. Corona Del Mar, California.6

Don M. Hinshaw

Hinshaw, Don M., passed away on Aug. 5, 2010 in his home after a long illness with lung disease.  He leaves behind his wife, Carmen, a son, Jerry and his wife, Carol; a daughter, Donna and her spouse, Linda, and four stepchildren, Tamera Ray and husband Warren, Steven Ingersoll and wife, Kathy, Richard Ingersoll, Sherry Raynoso and husband, Charlie; eight grandchildren: James, Sheryl, Sherrie, Wende, Richard, Mark, Aaron and Jonny, and nine great-grandchildren.  He was born in Indiana Aug. 22, 1922 to H. Ross and Aletha Hinshaw.  In 1966 Don retired after 24 years in the Marine Corps as a Lieutenant Colonel.  He was a fighter pilot and served during World War II and Korea.  After retirement, he worked for General Dynamics for 17 years.  He will be remembered as a loving and devoted father, grandfather and friend to all who know him He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Sparky.  We will all miss him deeply until we meet again.  Services will be held at Newport Center United Methodist Church at the corner of Marguerite and San Joaquin Hills, followed by internment with military honors at Pacific View Mortuary, 3500 Pacific View Dr. Corona Del Mar.
