Nellie and her mother Emma & family homesteaded some land in North Dakota, circa WWI, for a period of about five years in order to gain ownership of the land. Nellie married Frank Lemons who then sold Nellie's land and shortly thereafter fled with the money, leaving Nellie and her child abandoned.1
She then married William B. Ivins.3 William Ivins was called "Bid" within the family.6
Nellie and family were shown in the 1930 census (Apr 22 1930), living with her parents in Danvers Township, McLean County, Illinois:2
