He married Lucy Clanton, Feb 11 1794, Surry County, North Carolina.^42,44,60,a    Lucy, daughter of Benjamin+Elizabeth Clanton, was born in 1773, Chatham County, North Carolina.^42,a,b    Note that Thomas' brother Jacob married Lucy's sister Nancy Clanton.

Thomas and Lucy lived their entire married life in what is now Yadkin County, North Carolina.⁴²

Thomas Hinshaw died Dec 5 1824, Surry County, North Carolina; buried Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetery.^42,a

Thomas may have had some foreboding of his death, as on November 10, 1824, he made a deed of gift to his eldest son Benjamin of his personal property.⁴²

Thomas was buried in what is now the cemetery of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church.    After Thomas' death, Lucy survived him many years, making her home with son Benjamin.⁴²

Lucy died Jun 20 1859, Yadkin County, North Carolina; buried Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetery.^42,a
