He married Lydia Macy, 10-16-1799, Deep River MM, North Carolina.1,9,10 Lydia, daughter of Tristram Macy & Miriam Barnard, was born 12-24-1776, Massachusetts.1,5,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17
At Union MM on 1-27-1819, "John & family" were granted a certificate to "Maulberry" [Marlborough] MM. On 2-24-1819, "Lydia & daughters" were granted certificates to "Malberry" MM. On the same date, daughter Ruth was separately granted a certificate.1
At Marlborough MM on 4-3-1819, John & sons Tristrim & Benjamin, and Lydia & daughters Miriam, Lydia & Susannah were received on a certificate from Union MM dated 2-24-1819. On the same date, daughter Ruth was also received on a certificate of the same date, but she apparently arrived independently as a separate entry was made in the records (she would be about age 19).1
At Marlborough MM on 8-12-1830, Lydia (with husband) & family were granted a certificate to White Lick MM, Indiana. On 9-9-1830, John & family were granted a similar certificate at the men's meeting, but the record contains a postscript indicating that John:
"(did not include his son, Benjamin, Jr. for whom objections appeared)".
On 10-7-1830, Benjamin was disowned.1
At White Lick MM (Indiana) on 11-13-1830, John & wife Lydia and children Lydia & Susannah were received on a certificate from Marlborough.7

John Hinshaw died Feb 15 1836, buried West Union Cemetery, Monrovia, Monroe Township, Morgan County, Indiana.5,19,20,21
John is buried in West Union MM cemetery next to his 3rd cousin once removed, Mary Hinshaw Hadley.18
Widow Lydia was shown in the 1850 census (Oct 1 1850), blind and living in the household of daughter Ruth in Monroe Township, Morgan County, Indiana, as follows:15
