He married Emily Jane Haisley4,5,10,16 [Emma Jane Haisley1,3], Sep 9 18694,5,10,16, Jericho MM, Randolph County, Indiana4,5,10,16.  Emily, daughter of Franklin Haisley & Mazana/Mazanah/Mazhana Thomas, was born Jan 23 1849, New Garden, Indiana.3,4,9,12,14,15  

Philander and Emily were shown in the 1870 census (Jul 27 1870), Wayne Township, Randolph County, Indiana:17

Philander Hinshaw, age 24, born in Indiana; carpenter; $100 real estate; $100 personal property.
Emma Hinshaw, age 22, born in Indiana; keeping house.

At White River MM on 11-2-1872, Philander & wife Emily and children Edwin & Ebert R. were granted a certificate to Toledo MM.5  

At Milford MM (Indiana) on 1-27-1883, Philander and wife Emma and children Edwin M., Elbert R., Carrie Iona, Laura May, Franklin B., & Mary J.  were received on a certificate from Sterling MM, Kansas.1  

At Milford MM on 1-28-1886, Philander and wife Emma and children Edwin, Elbert, Carrie, Olla, Laura, Franklin, Mary, & Walter were granted a certificate to Whitewater MM, Indiana.1,18  

At Whitewater MM on 2-25-1886, Philander & wife Emma and children Edwin, Elbert, Carrie, Olla, Laura, Franklin, Mary, & Walter were received on a certificate from Dublin MM, Indiana.19  

At Whitewater MM on 7-28-1887, Philander & wife Emma and children Edwin, Elbert, Carrie, Olla, Laura, Franklin, Mary, & Walter were granted a certificate to Sterling MM, Kansas.19

Emily died Nov 30 1916, Garden City, Finney County, Kansas; buried Haviland Cemetery, Haviland, Kiowa County, Kansas.4,14,15  

Emily's obituary was published in "The American Friend" on December 14, 1916 (page 983).15  

He then married Evelyn (Abbey) Bills3 [Evelyn May Abbey20,21], Dec 19 19173.  Evelyn was born Oct 3 186520,21 [about 186722], Rolling Prairie, La Porte County, Indiana20,21.  Evelyn had been previously married Jan 1 1891 to Cincinatus Bills J. Bills, Sr., who died Mar 16 1912, by whom she had at least four (reportedly six) children.20,21  

Philander and Evelyn were divorced.  Evelyn was shown in the 1920 census (Jan 13 1920), living alone at 120 High St., Pratt, Pratt County, Kansas:22

Philander was shown in the 1920 census (Jan 30 1920), living in the household of daughter Mary on Road No. 2, Fowler Township, Meade County, Kansas:13

Evelyn died Feb - 1944, Pratt, Pratt County, Kansas.21  

Philander E. Hinshaw died Jan 28 1920, Fowler, Meade County, Kansas; buried Haviland Cemetery, Haviland, Kiowa County, Kansas.2,4,14,15  

Philander's obituary was published in "The American Friend" on March 18, 1920 (page 280).15  

Note there is a discrepancy between the reported death date above and the 1920 census enumeration above, which was recorded two days after Philander reportedly died - it's possible there might have been a census error, or perhaps this death date is incorrect.
