On Jun 5 1917 Pless Henshaw, age 22, registered for the World War I draft in McIntosh County, Oklahoma. He declared he was born April 16 1895 in Winchester, Tennessee, and was then residing in Checotah, Oklahoma where he was married and a self-employed farmer (near Onapa, Oklahoma). He claimed an exemption due to "support of wife". He was recorded as tall, slender, blue eyes, light hair.⁸

In the 1920 census Ernest was shown living in the household of his sister Alice:²

Ples' obituary was published in "The Modesto Bee" (Modesto, California) on Tuesday, February 21, 1967:⁹

Rose Ethel, at age 71, remarried to Harold L. Taylor, Nov 6 1971, Stanislaus County, California.¹¹
