He then married Harriet L. Frazier1,12,30 [Harriet L. Miller1], Jul 13 18841,12,30, Randolph County, Indiana1,12,30. Harriet, daughter of Elijah Frazier & Joanna Ellis, was born May 19 1850, Lynn, Randolph County, Indiana.12,31
Harriet had been previously married (Aug 6 1865) to Henry Miller, who had died Mar 26 1870, and had six children with him.12,31
Harriet died Apr 14 1892, buried Snow Hill Cemetery, Washington Twp., Randolph County, Indiana.17,31

HINSHAW Harriett M. (Frazier), dt/o Elijah and Joannah (Ellis) Frazier b. May 19, 1850 - d. Apr. 14, 1892 ae 41y 10m 25d. She m. Henry H. Miller Aug. 6, 1865, he d. Mar. 26, 1870 they had 6 children. She m. John Hinshaw June 23,188_ and had 2 children the youngest died Jan. 2, 1891. A mem. of the Christian Church. Surv. are the husband and 4 children, father, mother. 1 bro. and 1 sis. Fun. at Mt. Pleasant by Ira Johnson. (Death Rec. died of Ulceration of the stomach).

About a year after Harriet died, John went in his buggy to visit Martha Rankin, a widowed neighbor. "I've come to eat a meal with thee, Marthee". Then, after eating, "That was a mighty fine meal, Marthee", "I want ye to marry me"! They married and raised his 3-year-old daughter, Edith, and Martha's 3-year-old granddaughter.33

John and family are buried in Snow Hill Cemetery, Randolph County, Indiana, where their graves are marked with a 5-foot tall tower-style marker. The front of the gravestone says "John Hinshaw, Born 1820, Died 1902". On one side is "Teresa, wife of John Hinshaw, Died Mar 21 1883, Age 58 Yrs. 6 Mos. 9 D.". On the other side of the stone is "Harriet, wife of John Hinshaw, Died April 14 1892, Age 41 Yrs. 10 Mos. 25 D.". Beside these graves are the graves of daughters Mary Ellen and Catherine.17
