CAROL W. HENSHAW, 90, formerly of Arthur Avenue, a longtime member of the Barker Playhouse, died Sunday in Bay Tower Nursing Center, Providence. Born in New York City, a daughter of the late Thomas T. and Margaret A. (Ballou) Tate, she had lived in Providence for most of her life. She moved to East Providence 15 years ago.
A 1932 graduate of the Lincoln School, she later attended the King-Smith Studio School in Washington, D.C., where she majored in drama.
Mrs. Henshaw had spent two summers at the Ogunquit Playhouse, in Maine, and was a longtime member of the Barker Playhouse, where she starred in many productions.
She was especially proud of having been been invited to sit in the VIP section for the first inaugural of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
Mrs. Henshaw was a member of the Junior League of Providence, the Providence Art Club, and Agawam Hunt.
She leaves a son, Stanley Henshaw III of Warwick; a daughter, Patricia H. Stewart of Wilmot, N.H.; two granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.
A memorial service will be held Friday at noon in St. Martin's Episcopal Church, Orchard Avenue, Providence.
