Living next door in 1910 were Ethyl's parents, Nathan & Anna Cox, and family.17  

On Jun 5 1917 Owen Jacob Hinshaw, age 27, registered for the World War I draft in Oskaloosa, Mahaska County, Iowa.  He declared he was born March 5th 1890 in Salem, Lee County, Iowa, and he was then residing in Oskaloosa, Iowa where he was a self-employed farmer with a wife and three children under 12.  He claimed an exemption because "am a Quaker".  He was recorded as tall, medium build, brown eyes, brown hair.10

Living next door in 1920 were Owen's widowed mother and family;18 one more house away were Ethyl's parents, Nathan & Anna Cox.19

Hinshaw, Chester E., son, age 18, born in Iowa; parents born in Iowa; attended school.
Living two houses away on one side in 1930 was the family of first cousin Clarence Harrison Hinshaw;20 three houses away on the other side was uncle Chester John Hinshaw;21 one more house away were aunts Harriet and Anita.22  

Owen and Ethyl were divorced in 1939.2  Ethyl remarried to Harry Crozier, Oskaloosa, Iowa.1,2  

O.J. lived in Gridley, California.2  He was a hard worker, raised livestock and tended many acres of fruit trees.  There was always a hunting dog around and a horse he loved to ride while hunting deer with his sons, grandsons, and granddaughters.2  In the 1950s he moved to Willows, California where he bought a few acres and built his own barn and house and lived there until he died.2  

Owen Jacob Hinshaw died Aug 21 1960, Chico, Butte County, California; buried Section 3, Block 2, Lot 523, Space 1, Gridley-Biggs Cemetery, Gridley, Butte County, California.1,2,5,12,14,23  

Ethyl died Dec 1 1982, Oskaloosa, Mahaska County, Iowa; buried Dec 6 1982, Forest Cemetery, Oskaloosa, Iowa.14,15
