Ms. Donavie Hinshaw Allen
GREENSBORO - Ms. Donavie Hinshaw Allen, 83, of Greensboro, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital following the results of an accelerated illness over the past several weeks.
A memorial service will be held 10:00am on Monday, October 18, 2010 at Irving Park United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Allen was a member of Irving Park United Methodist Church where she was involved in many functions of the church and worked as a Kindergarten teacher in the 1960's. She was an avid golfer for most of her life. One of her greatest loves and talents was fine needlework. She spent many an hour and day creating and socializing with her friends at the Stitch Point shop. Donnie had a big heart for her fellow humans and she will be missed by many friends that she has made throughout her life.
She is survived by one son, Stephen Eugene Allen of Santa Fe, TX; her twin sister, Rosalie Ashcraft of Springdale, AR; two brothers, Clay C. Hinshaw of Burlington, NC; and Max Hinshaw of Climax, NC. She was preceded in death by a son, William Sheridan Allen and her husband, Claude W. Allen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Irving Park United Methodist Church, 1510 W. Cone Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27408.
Following the memorial service inurnment will follow at Westminster Gardens for the family and close friends. Forbis and Dick Guilford Chapel is serving the family of Mrs. Allen. On-line condolences may be offered at www.forbisanddick.com.
