She married James Theodore Hennig, Sep 24 1994, Willows, California.1,2  James, son of Dr. Lloyd Hennig & Vera Johnson, was born Sep 4 1943, San Francisco, San Francisco County, California.2  (It was James' father, Dr. Henig, who had delivered Sue when she was born).2  

Sue Ellen and Jim currently (1997) live in Longview, Washington.1  

Susan Hinshaw (Sue Ellen Hinshaw) received her B.A. Degree in Music with honors at San Jose State University in California.  She began her professional opera career as Violetta in "La Traviata" in Lucerne, Switzerland, where her success led to engagements in Europe, the United States, South America and Australia.  

Composer Gian Carlo Menotti chose Miss Hinshaw as his Magda Sorel in "The Consul", a role she performed under his direction in the United States, at the Endinburgh Festival in Scotland, and on television with the Melbourne Opera in Australia.  

More recent performances include the title role of "Salome" for the Gran Teatre Del Liceu in Barcelona, Spain; for the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Germany, and for the Radio Television Orchestra Espanola in Madrid, Spain.  Miss Hinshaw sang the title role of "Turandot" for the Vlaamse Opera's televised production in Antwerp, Belgium; and having debuted as Leonora in "Fidelio" with the Seattle Opera, she repeated the role in Germany, in concert at Carnegie Hall, and most recently in Buffalo, New York.  

After studying and performing in Switzerland, Austria, Germany and Italy for ten years, Susan Hinshaw resided in New York City for sixteen years, performing in the United States and abroad.  

After a separation of almost 30 years, she married her high school sweetheart, Optometrist Dr. James Hennig, of Longview, Washington (whose father delivered her at birth).  

In 1994 she moved to Longview, where she teaches private voice lessons and continues her professional career in opera.1
