Alex Henshaw (1917-) earned a world-wide reputation as a successful air racing and record breaking pilot in the 1930s, and in 1938 won the King's Cup race. His most famous flight was from England to Capetown and back in the same Mew Gull in 1939, setting a record which is still unbroken. During WWII he was chief production test pilot at Vickers' Castle Bromwich factory, flight testing hundreds of Spitfire and Lancaster aircraft.
William Wade Hinshaw (1867-1947) was an accomplished opera singer. He was also a renowned genealogist and the author of The Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy, the preeminent work on Quaker genealogy.
Annette Hanshaw was a well-known and very popular radio and recording singer in the late 1920s and 1930s. Her recordings are collector's items today and she still has many fans.

Hinshaw Cemetery, near Danvers, McLean County, Illinois. Located on the family farm originally settled by Simon Hinshaw, who was an early pioneer in McLean County, Ill. Numerous non-Hinshaws are buried here, so this may have originally been an early McLean County Quaker cemetery. A survey of this cemetery is available from the McLean County Genealogical Society.
