There was quite a bit of excitement for a level 2, 8 mile hike. It was Kevin's 151 hike and more surprisingly a number of hikers in distress. Iris felt the heat 3/4 of the way through the hike. Luckily, she found a biker with a flat who was getting a ride back. So Iris caught a ride with them back to the parking lot.

Then there were Vicki and Balthazar who planned to do the hike as listed, but got seduced into doing a longer hike. The apparent problem being they didn't have sufficient water for the extra distance in the heat. At least they managed to get to the interpretive center and refill their water. Eventually, they managed to trudge their way back to the parking lot. [Editor note: witnesses report the cuter of the two got a ride from the Russian Ridge parking lot]

Just shows that no hike should be taken for granted.
