Born Nov 15 1887, Danvers, McLean County, Illinois.5,6,7,8,9,10  

On Jun 5 1917 Ben H. Hinshaw, age 29, registered for the World War I draft in Bloomington, McLean County, Illinois.  He declared he was born Nov. 15 1887 in Danvers, Illinois, and was then still residing in Danvers, Illinois where he was single and a farm laborer employed by C.N. Hinshaw of Danvers.  He was recorded as medium height, slender, brown eyes, black hair.10  

Ben was shown in the 1920 census (Jan 17 1920), Danvers Township, McLean County, Illinois, living with his widowed mother and sister Mary:11

Hinshaw, Mary, sister, age 34, born in Illinois; father born in Illinois; mother born in Pennsylvania; single.
Hinshaw, Anna E., mother, age 69, born in Pennsylvania; both parents born in Pennsylvania; widow.

He married Alma H. Anderson, Nov 24 1920.1,2,6,7,9  Alma was born Sep 27 1894.6,7,8  

Alma had been a hired worker on the Hinshaw farm, doing almost everything from house work to field work as required.  

Ben and family were shown in the 1940 census (Apr 22-23 1940), Danvers Township, McLean County, Illinois:3

Hinshaw, Benjamin, head-of-household, age 52, born in Illinois; was living in the same house on Apr 1 1935; completed 8th grade education; rented home ($5 monthly rent); occupation: farmer, farming.
Hinshaw, Alma, wife, age 45, born in Illinois; was living in the same house on Apr 1 1935; completed 6th grade education.
Hinshaw, Wayne, son, age 16, born in Illinois; was living in the same house on Apr 1 1935; attended school; completed 3 years of high school.
Hinshaw, Doris, daughter, age 15, born in Illinois; was living in the same house on Apr 1 1935; attended school; completed 2 years of high school.
Hinshaw, Anna, mother, age 87, born in Pennsylvania; was living in the same house on Apr 1 1935; completed 8th grade education.

Benjamin H. Hinshaw died Jan 15 1967, buried Parklawn Cemetery, Danvers, McLean County, Illinois.6,7,8  Medical: Ben died from prostate cancer.12  

Ben's obituary appeared in the Bloomington Pantagraph on, as follows:9

Ben Hinshaw
Danvers (PNS) -- The funeral for Ben Hinshaw, 79, who died Thursday at his home, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Otto-Argo Funeral Home here with the Rev. Richard Richards officiating.  Burial will be in Pa (sic) Lawn Cemetery.  
Visitation will be 2-4; 7-9 this afternoon and evening at the funeral home.  
Mr. Hinshaw was born near Danvers Nov. 15, 1887, a son of Charles Newton and Anna Ellen Smith Hinshaw.  He married Alma H. Anderson Nov. 24, 1920.  
Surviving are his wife; a son, Wayne, Danvers; a daughter, Mrs. Wesley Haskovec, Elma, Iowa; five grandchildren.  
Eight brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.

Alma died Jun - 1972, buried Parklawn Cemetery, Danvers, McLean County, Illinois.6,7,8
